Hey There! I'm Rachel. I'm an artist, educator, and curator. ​The archival project featured here and on my

Instagram @ratrusty comes from several years of

collecting vintage photographs and documents as

a deep interest in filling gaps in the historical record. 

​

My artwork focuses on themes of femininity, gender,

and sexuality. I enjoy using traditional women's

materials such as fibers and techniques such as

embroidery and sewing. ​My scholarly research

explores how LGBT+ artists use materials and

processes to discuss personal identity.​ 

When I am not making art or writing, I am hanging out with my two rescue chihuahuas.
